Idiopathic Eruptive Macular Pigmentation: Report of Five Patients
C. Sanz de Galdeano, C. Léauté‐Labrèze, Paulette Bioulac‐Sage, Miloš Nikolić +1 more
1996· Pediatric Dermatology59doi:10.1111/j.1525-1470.1996.tb01237.x

We report the occurrence of idiopathic eruptive macular pigmentation in four children and one adolescent. This condition appears to be a distinct clinicopathologic and histologic entity. It is characterized by asymptomatic, pigmented macules involving the neck, trunk, and proximal limbs. All patients or their families denied the patients' having taken any drug before the eruption. In all of the patients the first sign was a pigmented spot without preceding erythematous, papular, or hypopigmented lesions. Histologic study showed enhanced epidermal basal layer pigmentation with pigmentary incontinence, a mild perivascular lymphohistiocytic infiltrate, and many melanophages in the papillary dermis. Electron microscopy showed an increased number of melanosomes in basal and suprabasal keratinocytes as well as clustered melanosomes in dermal melanophages. Treatment of this asymptomatic condition is unnecessary because spontaneous resolution of the lesions is to be expected within several months to a few years.

Galanos Ch. J.: The alien flora of terrestrial and marine ecosystems of Rodos island (SE Aegean), Greece. — Willdenowia 45: 261–278. 2015. — Version of record first published online on 20 July 2015 ahead of inclusion in August 2015 issue; ISSN 1868-6397; © 2015 BGBM Berlin.DOI: http//dx.doi.org/10.3372/wi.45.45211The alien flora of the Greek island of Rodos (SE Aegean) is presented. This study is based on fieldwork carried out by the author up to June 2015, as well as on the literature found to date. The present checklist consists of 101 alien taxa of vascular plants, of which 27 are recorded for the first time as new for the alien flora of Rodos. Of these, 14 are also new for the alien flora of Greece. Of these, seven are naturalized: Austrocylindropuntia subulata, Erythrina lysistemon, Ficus microcarpa, Myoporum tenuifolium, Senecio angulatus, Washingtonia filifera and Yucca gloriosa; and seven are casual: Bauhinia variegata, Brachychiton populneus, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis, Jacaranda mimosifolia, Pittosporum tobira, Thevetia peruviana and Phymosia umbellata. The last taxon is also recorded as a new for the alien flora of Europe. In addition, 13 alien taxa of marine algae are recorded. Each taxon is listed with its status (naturalized or casual, neophyte or archaeophyte), as well as its geographical origin. For each of the 27 taxa recorded as new for Rodos, localities and dates of field observations are provided, as well as a voucher specimen and at least one voucher photograph for each taxon. The modes of introduction of alien taxa to Rodos and their modes of dispersal within the island, as well as the invasion success and effects of invasive alien taxa, are discussed. The numbers of alien taxa in Rodos and other areas in the Mediterranean region are compared.

The influence of family ownership on acquisition activity: The moderating role of acquisition experience
Julio Diéguez‐Soto, Pilar López‐Delgado, Teresa Mariño-Garrido
2020· Journal of Small Business Management12doi:10.1080/00472778.2020.1725813

We investigated how heterogeneity in family ownership influences on the frequency of acquisitions in a sample of 1,096 publicly traded manufacturing companies from the Asia Pacific region in the period 2009–2016. We found that the level of family ownership decreases the activity consisting in engaging in acquisitions. Moreover, the negative influence of family ownership on acquisition frequency becomes less important when the firm has been involved in prior acquisitions. We drew on the mixed gamble approach to better understand acquisition decisions in family firms.

Dimensions of Causal Attributions of Tax Evasion in Portugal
Tavares José C., I. Már
2010· Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology8doi:10.5093/tr2010v26n1a5

A study carried out in Spain In order to check if perceptions of tax evasion causes are crossculturally generalizable, the present study reports on a research conducted in Portugal using the same causal attributions used in the Spanish research. A sample of 497 Portuguese men and women with a variety of jobs were asked about their causal attributions of tax evasion. A factor analysis was carried out and the results showed a factor pattern which reproduced the Spanish factor pattern. Congruence coefficients confirmed the similarity of the structures. These findings confirmed that two dimensions may explain the structure of the perception of tax evasion causes. Implications of the results are discussed and future research is suggested.

Objective: Dissociative symptoms are considered risk factors for suicide and non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI). In this study, the relationship between suicidal behaviors and NSSI with dissociative symptoms in adolescents with a history of Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) was investigated. Methods: A total of 100 adolescents with a history of CSA were evaluated with a detailed forensic psychiatric interview. Dissociative symptoms were measured with the self-report Adolescent Dissociative Experiences Scale (A-DES) and the parent-reported Child Dissociative Checklist (CDC). Results: While dissociative symptoms did not differ between adolescents with and without suicide attempts (CDC; p = .068 and A-DES; p = .060), they were significantly higher in adolescents with non-suicidal self-harming behavior (CDC; p < .001 and A-DES; p = .001). Suicide attempts and NSSI were more common in those who reported genital touching as a type of sexual abuse (respectively, p = .003; p = .048). In regression analysis; history of psychiatric treatment (OR = 9.09 [95% CI = 1.52, 54.29]) and NSSI (OR = 8.18 [95% CI = 2.01, 33.23]) were independently associated with suicide attempts. In addition, parent-reported dissociative symptoms (CDC scores) (OR = 1.27 [95% CI = 1.06, 1.53] and suicide attempt (OR = 8.09 [95%CI = 1.96,33.42] showed independent association with NSSI. Conclusions: Dissociative symptoms may be predictive factors for NSSI and should be considered in risk assessment of adolescents with a history of CSA.

Co-Integration of Oil and Commodity Prices: A Comprehensive Approach
Mohcine Bakhat, Klaas Würzburg
2021· Ambient intelligence and smart environments3doi:10.3233/aise210088

Past research has mainly applied linear cointegration analysis to study the relationship of crude oil prices with the prices of other commodities. However, recent methodological innovations in cointegration analysis allow for a more thorough analysis of the co-movement of commodity prices and detect asymmetric and thresholds co-movements. Following Enders and Siklos [1] and Hansen and Seo [2], we apply threshold cointegration analysis, detecting co-movements that earlier studies based on linear cointegration analysis could not detect. We find that adjustments to positive and negative deviations from the long-run equilibrium are asymmetric for copper, food and agricultural raw materials in the short-run. Moreover, the adjustments for aluminum and nickel are symmetric. The price Granger causalities behave as expected for metals and agricultural raw material prices. Food prices, however, behave differently. In sum, the results of this paper underscore the importance of consistently testing nonlinear cointegration and point out the complex interactions that take place between the markets of oil and other commodities.

Burnout in hybrid work arrangements: unpacking the role of technostress, psychological detachment, and organisational supports
Eoin Whelan, Ann O’Brien, Alma McCarthy
2026· Internet Research1doi:10.1108/intr-01-2025-0041

Purpose Since the lifting of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, the hybrid work arrangement has become widespread globally, yet its impact on employee well-being remains unclear. We argue that the combination of stressful interactions with information and communication technology (ICT) when working remotely and onsite inhibits hybrid workers from psychologically detaching from work, which ultimately has a negative impact on their well-being in the form of burnout. In addition, we consider what organisational supports (i.e. hybrid work location autonomy, workplace social support) are effective in buffering the negative impact of hybrid work technostress. Design/methodology/approach Integrating the theoretical perspectives of technostress with the stressor-detachment model, this study develops and empirically tests the pathways which explain how and when the specific technostress experienced by hybrid workers is associated with burnout. We tested our model with survey data collected from 405 full-time hybrid workers. Findings Our findings indicate that hybrid workers' impaired psychological detachment mediates the relationship between technostress and burnout, but this effect is evident only in remote work settings. Moreover, greater hybrid work location autonomy buffers the negative effect of technostress on psychological detachment when working remotely but no effect was found for workplace social support. Originality/value The downside of hybrid work arrangements on worker well-being has rarely been examined in prior research. Applying the technostress lens to hybrid work enables our study to reveal more nuanced relationships between the demands of ICT and the well-being of hybrid workers, where we find evidence of the distinction between in-office and remote technostress.

A Study of Innovation Activities in Software and Computer Services Companies
Alvaro Gómez Vieites, José Luís Calvo González
2012· Management1doi:10.5923/j.mm.20120203.01

This paper analyzes the results of a study of innovation activities in software and computing services companies. We propose a new model which takes into account the role played by several factors and firms’ resources in the development of innovative activities, exploring the relationships between a set of organizational, technological, financial and information-based resources, as well as other aspects such as cooperation with other agents and companies. We employ a Structural Equation Model and the PLS technique in order to validate the theoretical model proposed in this research. The data come from the Spanish National Statistics Institute’s Survey on Firms’ Technological Innovation, and the sample is composed by 823 observations referred to firms in the sector of software and computer services. The main results show that human resources (R&D and higher education personnel) is the most important factor that positively affects R+D activities, followed by financial resources (R&D expenses) and contingent factors (firm’s size and type of market). At the same time R&D activities, information management and technological resources have a positive effect on product and process innovation. Finally, R+D activities, innovation results and information management have a positive influence on business results.

PUBLISHING ANNOTATED MULTIMEDIA DEEP WEB DATA
Alexander Arturo Mera Caraballo
2012doi:10.17771/pucrio.acad.23714

Elementary Geochemistry Model In School
T. Komarnitsky
1959· Soviet Educationdoi:10.2753/res1060-9393010443

In solving the problem of labor education and polytechnical training, our school with its own resources in a relatively short time created a material schooling base for this purpose. This was possible only because the whole collective body of pupils was drawn into the work. Engaged in subject and technical courses during the past two years, our pupils under the guidance of teachers and parents made with their own hands almost all the necessary appliances, models, patterns and other visual aids. As a result the school now has at its disposal equipped study rooms in all subjects.

2026· Information and Learning Sciencesdoi:10.1108/ils-09-2025-0172

Purpose The specific purpose of this study is to co-create in partnership learning experiences that are responsive to the needs of local communities by unearthing voices of lived experiences in communities, and uniting them with academic practices of research, teaching and learning. Co-formulating a new transdisciplinary micro-credential with a novel and blended pedagogical approach, using rural digital hubs in the connected hubs network to bring the university to local communities. Micro-credentials are small, accredited courses designed to meet the demands of learners, enterprise and organisations, created by Irish Universities Association partner universities in consultation with enterprise and in this case communities. Design/methodology/approach This paper was informed and developed from a transdisciplinary, co-creation and participatory approach. It emphasises the collaborative development of knowledge across disciplines, and stepped into societal boundaries with key principles on the inclusion of the voices of rural communities in the west of Ireland. Findings This paper charts the development of this novel partnership work, exploring a critical, digital pedagogy of “problem-posing education” in which learner and teacher hierarchical relationships are replaced by individual and collective learning, nurturing pedagogies of connection, both within and outwith the University. Research limitations/implications This conceptual paper starts a conversation on a novel use of technology in a community learning setting using a blended approach that incorporates live in place and live online modes of participation in learning (Beetham et al., 2024). Using sense of community theory (McMillan and Chavis, 1996) to bring increased understanding of equitable interaction and co-creation practices in a designing a community led co-created course. Practical implications The authors explore the meaning of belonging and sustainability and the practical challenges of bringing the university to the community using technology available in rural hubs, the group approach helps to overcome the digital divide and supports knowledge exchange and relationship building. Social implications The approach values the lived experience of people in communities, supporting knowledge exchange that is equitable, together the authors aim to create shared value through respectful interaction. Originality/value This exploratory project brings together a diverse group of people with a common purpose, that of sharing knowledge to support communities to thrive sustainably. Using a novel blended pedagogy featuring rural digital hubs and community as a group participation to co-create a course.
