The terrestrial orchid genus Bhutanthera Renz (subfamily Orchidoideae, tribe Orchideae), comprising five species, three newly described here, is established. A new species, Herminium pygmaeum Renz, and three new varieties, Bulbophyllum cauliflorum Hook.f. var. sikkimense N. Pearce & P. J. Cribb, Cephalanthera erecta (Thunb.) Bl. var. oblanceolata N. Pearce & P. J. Cribb, and Gymnadenia orchidis Lindl. var. pantlingii Renz, are here newly described. Five new combinations and one new name are proposed. Four new sections of Bulbophyllum are also established and their relationships discussed.
O Fitofaladoiro é un proxecto multidisciplinar desenvolvido polo Herbario SANT (na Facultade de Farmacia da USC) e o ILG. Os seus fins son varios: 1 - Recoller nomes e usos tradicionais de plantas ventureiras de Galicia. Tamén resultan de interese outros aspectos culturais relacionados coas plantas, coma a existencia de lendas, contos, refráns, crenzas, xogos, etc. 2 - Aprender a crear un herbario. 3 - Recoller elementos culturais que están a desparecer; formentar o respecto polos saberes tradicionais e a Natureza; fomentar o diálogo interxeracional, entre os nenos e as persoas maiores. 4 - Mostrar as posibilidades do galego no contexto das ciencias naturais. En principio, o proxecto está dirixido ós alumnos dos centros de Ensino Medio e do Bacharelato de Galicia. Neles preténdese involucrar tanto ós profesores de lingua galega coma os profesores de ciencias naturais, promovendo a comunicación entre as ramas do saber das Humanidades e das Ciencias Naturais. Mais o proxecto tamén está aberto á colaboración de asociacións culturais, en xeral, ou de persoas interesadas en colaborar de xeito individual.
Meistera muriformis (Zingiberaceae: Alpinioideae), a new species from southern Vietnam is described and illustrated. The description is accompanied by additional notes on etymology, ecology and phenology, distribution, and preliminary IUCN assessment. Notes on differences from morphologically similar congeners are provided. The new species is diagnosed from its morphologically closest species, Meistera stephanocolea, by prominently reticulate leaf sheaths, open flower type and small anther crest with no prominent lobes. The novelty brings the total number of species of Meistera in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam to 15. Morphological diversity and distribution of Meistera in these countries are briefly summarised, and an identification key is provided.
