Personal intrinsic religiosity and product knowledge on halal product purchase intention
Tatiek Nurhayati, Hendar Hendar
2019· Journal of Islamic marketing245doi:10.1108/jima-11-2018-0220

Purpose This paper aims to increase knowledge about awareness and intention to choose the halal products. This study assessed the effect of intrinsic religiosity and knowledge of halal products on the awareness and purchase intention of halal products. This study also investigated and examined the role of halal product awareness (HPA) in mediating the relationship between personal intrinsic religiosity (PIR) and halal product knowledge (HPK) with halal product intention (HPI). This knowledge will be very meaningful because there are still many types of products that are not halal certified circulating in the Muslim market segment. Design/methodology/approach This study used a self-administered questionnaire with closed questions. As many as 238 Muslim consumers in Indonesia over 17 years old were selected to be tested for regressive relationships from the four constructs. The Sobel test is then used to explain the mediating role of HPA. Findings This study shows that there is a relationship between PIR and HPK to HPA and HPI, and HPA to HPI. This study found that HPA was truly a partial mediation in the relationship between PIR and HPK with HPI. Research limitations/implications This study is conducted in the halal food sector in Indonesia and in certain cultural contexts so that the application of the same model in various sectors and countries can get various results. In addition, the respondents of this study were halal food customers; it would be very interesting to obtain data from other stakeholders such as halal food producers or retailers. Originality/value As per the authors’ knowledge, this study becomes the first study in Indonesia to examine the mediating role of HPA in the relationship of PIR and HPK with HPI. Conceptual discussion and results of empirical studies extend previous research on consumer behavior in the halal product market segment. An in-depth study of this phenomenon is expected to contribute in the development of science, especially Islamic marketing and customer behavior.

Imam Kusmaryono, Dyana Wijayanti, Hevy Risqi Maharani
2022· International Journal of Educational Methodology220doi:10.12973/ijem.8.4.625

This study reviews 60 papers using a Likert scale and published between 2012 – 2021. Screening for literature review uses the PRISMA method. The data analysis technique was carried out through data extraction, then synthesized in a structured manner using the narrative method. To achieve credible research results at the stage of the data collection and data analysis process, a group discussion forum (FGD) was conducted. The findings show that only 10% of studies use a measurement scale with an even answer choice category (4, 6, 8, or 10 choices). In general, (90%) of research uses a measurement instrument that involves a Likert scale with odd response choices (5, 7, 9, or 11) and the most popular researchers use a Likert scale with a total response of 5 points. The use of a rating scale with an odd number of responses of more than five points (especially on a seven-point scale) is the most effective in terms of reliability and validity coefficients, but if the researcher wants to direct respondents to one side, then a scale with an even number of responses (six points) is possible. more suitable. The presence of response bias and central tendency bias can affect the validity and reliability of the use of the Likert scale instrument.

Uric Acid as a Risk Factor for Chronic Kidney Disease and Cardiovascular Disease ― Japanese Guideline on the Management of Asymptomatic Hyperuricemia ―
Ichiro Hisatome, Peili Li, Junichiro Miake, Fikri Taufiq +4 more
2020· Circulation Journal124doi:10.1253/circj.cj-20-0406

Serum uric acid (UA) is taken up by endothelial cells and reduces the level of nitric oxide (NO) by inhibiting its production and accelerating its degradation. Cytosolic and plasma xanthine oxidase (XO) generates superoxide and also decreases the NO level. Thus, hyperuricemia is associated with impaired endothelial function. Hyperuricemia is often associated with vascular diseases such as chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD). It has long been debated whether hyperuricemia is causally related to the development of these diseases. The 2020 American College of Rheumatology Guideline for the Management of Gout (ACR2020) does not recommend pharmacological treatment of hyperuricemia in patients with CKD/CVD. In contrast, the Japanese Guideline on Management of Hyperuricemia and Gout (JGMHG), 3rdedition, recommends pharmacological treatment of hyperuricemia in patients with CKD. In a FREED study on Japanese hyperuricemic patients with CVD, an XO inhibitor, febuxostat, improved the primary composite endpoint of cerebro-cardio-renovascular events, providing a rationale for the use of urate-lowering agents (ULAs). Since a CARES study on American gout patients with CVD treated with febuxostat revealed increased mortality, ACR2020 recommends switching to different ULAs. However, there was no difference in the mortality of Japanese patients between the febuxostat-treated group and the placebo or allopurinol-treated groups in either the FEATHER or FREED studies.

2016119doi:10.30659/ei.1.1.1-12

2018· Open Access Macedonian Journal of Medical Sciences112doi:10.3889/oamjms.2018.404

BACKGROUND: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) may serve as immunoregulators by producing various anti-inflammatory molecules. Under sufficient level of TNF-α, MSCs become activated and adopt immune-suppressive phenotype (MSCs type-2) by releasing various anti-inflammatory molecule including TGF-β and IL-10. However, the ability of MSC itself to produce IL-10 under TNF-α stimulation and the correlation of TGF-β production of MSCs to IL-10 level remains to be elucidated. AIM: In this study, MSCs were activated with various TNF-α doses to determine the increase of IL-10 and TGF-β level as well as its correlation. MATERIAL AND METHODS: This study used post-test only control group design, by using 3 study groups, consist of 1 control (C) and 2 treatments (T) (TNF-α = 5 and 10 ng/mL) with triplicate induced in MSC for 24 hours, then the levels of IL-10 and TGF-β were measured by using ELISA assay. RESULTS: The results of this study showed a significant increase of TGF-β and IL-10 levels (p < 0.05) at TNF-α 5 and 10 ng/mL dose of TNF-α. Moreover, there was a significant negative correlation between TGF-β and IL-10 level on 5 and 10 ng/mL dose TNF-α treatment. CONCLUSION: Based on our study, we conclude that the 5 ng/mL dose of TNF-α is a sufficient dose for MSCs to suppress the inflammatory milieu. The higher increase of TGF beta is due to the controlled inflammation by IL-10.

Understanding students’ readiness for interprofessional learning in an Asian context: a mixed-methods study
Endang Lestari, Renée E. Stalmeijer, Doni Widyandana, Albert Scherpbier
2016· BMC Medical Education103doi:10.1186/s12909-016-0704-3

BACKGROUND: Healthcare is generally provided by various health professionals acting together. Unfortunately, poor communication and collaboration within such healthcare teams often prevent its members from actively engaging in collaborative decision-making. Interprofessional education (IPE) which prepares health professionals for their collaborative role in the healthcare system may partially address this problem. This study aimed to investigate: 1) students' readiness for IPE in an Asian context, 2) the most important factors influencing students' perceptions of IPE, 3) the reasons underlying such perceptions, and 4) the factors mitigating or promoting their sense of readiness. METHODS: To identify students' perceptions of IPE, we administered the Readiness for Interprofessional Learning Scale (RIPLS) to 398 in approximately 470 students from a range of health professions (medicine, nursing, midwifery and dentistry). The questionnaire included factors that could potentially influence readiness for IPE as found in the literature (GPA, etc.). To enhance our understanding of the responses to the RIPLS and to explore the reasons underlying them, we conducted 4 mono-professional focus group discussions (FGDs). We ran a statistical analysis on the quantitative data, while performing a thematic content analysis of the qualitative data using ATLAS.ti (version 7). RESULTS: Medical students seemed to be the most prepared for IPE. Students' perceptions of IPE were conditioned by the study programme they took, their GPA, intrinsic motivation and engagement in the student council connoting experience of working with students from different programmes. Focus groups further revealed that: 1) early exposure to clinical practice triggered both positive and negative perceptions of IPE and of its importance to learning communication and leadership skills, 2) medical students caused insecurity and disengagement in other students, 3) medical students felt pressured to be leaders, and 4) there was a need to clarify and understand each other's profession and the boundaries of one's own profession. CONCLUSION: Students were generally favourable to IPE, appreciating the opportunity it offered them to hone their interprofessional leadership, collaboration and communication skills and to learn to address the problem of role blurring. Hence, we judge the Asian context ready to implement IPE, allowing health professions students in Asian countries to reap its benefits. The present study revealed several important reasons underlying students' positive and negative perceptions of IPE implementation which may be addressed during the interprofessional learning process.

Olivia Fachrunnisa, Farookh Hussain
2020· International Journal of Engineering Business Management86doi:10.1177/1847979020966400

Skills gap between company needs and competencies occupied by the workforce can be the source of inefficiencies. The purpose of this research is to develop a blockchain-based human resource (HR) framework to match the needs from the company and workforce competencies This framework will help Corporate Training Centre to standardized the competencies which then used by HR Department to develop the training material. In order to get valid information regarding skills that are needed from the company, we develop a prototype based on Blockchain. Hence, blockchain-based HRM is built to improve the quality of workforce competency in an organization. The current organizations are struggling to fulfil the needs of the workforce in accordance with industry quality standards. Therefore, this will help all parties to create a consensus between the needs of the industry with the labour market. Corporate Training Centre through the competent institution will be the mediator or intermediary to unite the information from companies, training institutions, and Professional Certification Institutions. As a result, in the long term, the needs of the workforce with the qualification required by the company in such industries will always fit the current situation. Blockchain helps to process the information and data needed by each party so that the connection between parties will be assisted efficiently and effectively.
