Abstract
The comments of Krapp and Frenking are acknowledged, however, it is proposed that a detailed description of the nature of the metal–ligand bonding in the Ag I acetylene complexes has to consider orbital interactions, in contrast to the electrostatic picture drawn by Krapp and Frenking.
