Abstract
The functioning of historical methods and archaisms in modern Tatar prose are investigated in the article. Data on etymological groups of outdated vocabulary used in historical novels of famous Tatar writers: N. Fattah, M. Khabibullin, R. Batulla, V. Imamov updated and systematized.
